Consular Services
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) provides help to Australians who find themselves in trouble overseas.
DFAT provides Australians with emergency consular services 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You can contact us on +91 11 4910 5960 during office hours from 09:00 until 17:00 Monday to Friday (except public holidays) or after hours through the the Consular Emergency Centre by holding on the line and following the prompts to be connected directly or alternatively by calling +61 2 6261 3305 from outside Australia or 1300 555 135 within Australia. If they cannot resolve your issue, they will make contact with a consular official in Bengaluru who will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
Assisting Australians Overseas
The Australian Government will do what it can to help Australians in difficulty overseas, but there are legal and practical limits to what help we may be able to provide. Information on the services we may be able to provide and information on what we cannot do are outlined in the Consular Services Charter.
